The Forgotten Drought
Somalia is facing a crisis decades in the making — built on political collapse, armed conflict, and now five consecutive failed rainy seasons. For the pastoralist communities who have lived off the land for generations, everything is gone: the livestock, the water, the way of life.
Displaced, malnourished, and cut off from aid at the worst possible moment. Humanitarian funding has been slashed by two-thirds. The country's response plan is only 13% funded. And 1.85 million children face acute malnutrition by mid-2026.
Communities are fighting back. World Vision has been on the ground in Somalia for decades, running nutrition centres, food distributions, and resilience programs that are helping displaced families rebuild. With treatment, more than 90% of malnourished children make a full recovery. The tools exist. What's missing is the funding.
