CHN Project Appreciated by Minister of Public Health

On September 2014, in a national conference held by Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health, Dr Said Ali Shah Alawi, IMCI director, commended and presented an appreciation letter to World Vision (WV) Afghanistan health sector and the  Child Health Now (CHN) Project for demonstrated excellence and continuous support toward providing qualitative and quantitative health services in marginalized districts of Herat especially establishing of Western Afghanistan Regional Maternal and Child Health Forum in Herat, Ghor and Badghis provinces.

In this conference, WV Focal point, Dr. Rahimi, Department of Public Health- Integrated Management Child Illness Officer received the appreciation letter in presence of Extension Program for Immunization (EPI), Nutrition, Mental Health and Reproduction Health (RH) departments of Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health.

The WARMCHF which was established for first time by CHN project in three provinces of Afghanistan has been an effective platform to advocate best practices in order to reduce maternal and child mortality rate in Afghanistan. Through this platform this project were able to bring Integrated Maternal and Child Health Illness and Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment standard align with MoPH criteria, introducing 1000 days nutrition policy, presenting global campaign, identifying Immunization coverage in Herat provinces and even much more.

The goal of the CHN campaign is to contribute to reducing maternal and child mortality in disadvantaged areas of Afghanistan in line with MDG 4 , to reach the desired project outcome the project works with the communities in Herat, Ghor, Badghis and relevant stakeholders.
