Press Release: Communities Unite to Plant 1,000 Trees to Strengthen Water Security and Climate Resilience in Sangkum Thmei

Sangkum Thmei District, Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia —9 July 2026:  Local authorities, representatives from provincial departments, community members, schools, and development partners came together today to plant 1,000 trees across five hectares of community land in Sangkum Thmei District, marking a shared commitment to climate resilience, sustainable water management and environmental stewardship.

The event was chaired by the District Governor and attended by representatives from key provincial departments, including agriculture, forestry and fishery, water resources and meteorology, Rural development, and Environment. The initiative was organized in collaborationwith the Forestry Administration through World Vision Cambodia’s Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) Project.

Tree planting activities took place along the canal corridors, the hillside of Phnom Thbeng, local schools, and the pagoda —areas that play an important role in protecting water resources, reducing soil erosion, restoring ecosystems, and strengthening environmental stewardship within communities.

As Cambodia is increasingly experiencing the impacts of climate change, including droughts, floods, and changing rainfall patterns that affect water resources, agriculture, and rural livelihoods, nature-Based Solutions such as tree planting and watershed restoration are increasingly important for protecting water resources, supporting agricultural livelihoods, and building resilience.

“Planting trees is more than restoring nature — it is securing water, protecting ecosystems, strengthening livelihoods, and building climate resilience for future generations,” said Mr. Mao Chansokvibol, Technical Programme Lead, World Vision International in Cambodia. "Every tree planted today contributes to healthier watersheds, stronger communities, and a more sustainable future."

The activity is part of World Vision Cambodia’s Integrated Water Resource Management Project 2025–2028 in Sangkum Thmei District. The project supports communities to manage water, land, and natural resources in a more integrated and climate-resilient way, while strengthening local capacity and supporting sustainable livelihoods.

The event reflected a shared commitment between government, communities, and development partners in advancing sustainable water management, environmental  andnatural resources protection and build a greener, more water-secure future for Sangkum Thmei.

សហគមន៍រួមរួមកម្លាំងគ្នាដាំកូនឈើចំនួន ១.០០០ ដើម ដើម្បីពង្រឹងសន្តិសុខទឹក និងភាពធន់នឹងការប្រែប្រួលអាកាសធាតុ នៅក្នុងស្រុកសង្គមថ្មី

ស្រុកសង្គមថ្មី ខេត្តព្រះវិហារ— ថ្ងៃទី៩ ខែកក្កដា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦៖ អាជ្ញាធរមូលដ្ឋាន តំណាងមន្ទីរថ្នាក់ខេត្ត សមាជិកសហគមន៍ សាលារៀន និងដៃគូអភិវឌ្ឍន៍ បានជួបជុំគ្នានៅថ្ងៃនេះ ដើម្បីដាំដើមឈើចំនួន ១.០០០ ដើម លើទំហំផ្ទៃដីសហគមន៍សរុបចំនួន ៥ហិកតា ក្នុងស្រុកសង្គមថ្មី ដែលបង្ហាញពីការរប្តេជ្ញាចិត្តរួមគ្នា ចំពោះភាពធន់នឹងអាកាសធាតុ ការគ្រប់គ្រងទឹកប្រកបដោយនិរន្តរភាព និងការគ្រប់គ្រងបរិស្ថាន។

កម្មវិធីនេះប្រព្រឹត្តទៅក្រោមអធិបតីភាពលោកអភិបាលស្រុក និងមានការអញ្ជើញចូលរួមពីតំណាងមន្ទីរសំខាន់ៗជុំវិញខេត្ត រួមមាន មន្ទីរកសិកម្ម រុក្ខាប្រមាញ់ និងនេសាទ ធនធានទឹក និងឧតុនិយម អភិវឌ្ឍន៍ជនបទ និងបរិស្ថាន។  គំនិតផ្តួចផ្តើមនេះ ត្រូវបានរៀបចំឡើងក្រោមកិច្ចសហការជាមួយរដ្ឋបាលព្រៃឈើ តាមរយៈគម្រោងសមាហរណកម្មការគ្រប់គ្រងធនធានទឹករបស់អង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអន្តរជាតិ ប្រចាំនៅកម្ពុជា។ 

សកម្មភាពដាំកូនឈើត្រូវបានធ្វើឡើងនៅតាមបណ្តោយប្រឡាយទឹក ជម្រាលភ្នំត្បែង សាលារៀនក្នុងមូលដ្ឋាន និងវត្តអារាម  ដែលជាតំបន់ដើរតួនាទីយ៉ាងសំខាន់ក្នុងការការពារប្រភពទឹក កាត់បន្ថយការហូរច្រោះដី ការស្តារប្រព័ន្ធអេកូឡូស៊ី និងពង្រឹងការគ្រប់គ្រងបរិស្ថាននៅក្នុងសហគមន៍។

ស្របពេលដែលប្រទេសកម្ពុជា កំពុងទទួលរងនូវផលប៉ះពាល់ពីការប្រែប្រួលអាកាសធាតុ រួមមានគ្រោះរាំងស្ងួត ទឹកជំនន់ និងការប្រែប្រួលនៃរបបទឹកភ្លៀង ដែលប៉ះពាល់ដល់ធនធានទឹក កសិកម្ម និងជីវភាពរស់នៅតាមជនបទ ការជ្រើសយកនូវដំណោះស្រាយតាមបែបធម្មជាតិ ដូចជាការដាំដើមឈើ និងការស្ដាររតំបន់អាងទឹកនេះ កាន់តែមានសារៈសំខាន់ក្នុងការការពារធនធានទឹក គាំទ្រដល់ជីវភាពកសិកម្ម និងការកសាងភាពធន់។ 

លោក ម៉ៅ ច័ន្ទសុខវិបុល ប្រធានកម្មវិធីសន្តិសុខស្បៀង និងអាហារូបត្ថម្ភ នៃអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកកម្ពុជា បានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា៖ «ការដាំដើមឈើគឺមិនត្រឹមតែជាការស្តារធម្មជាតិឡើងវិញ  វាគឺជាការធានាសន្តិសុខទឹក ការពារប្រព័ន្ធអេកូឡូស៊ី ពង្រឹងជីវភាពរស់នៅ និងកសាងភាពធន់នឹងការប្រែប្រួលអាកាសធាតុសម្រាប់ជំនាន់ក្រោយ។ ដើមឈើដែលបានដាំនៅថ្ងៃនេះ រួមចំណែកដល់ចេរភាពនៃប្រភពទឹក្អធ្វើអោយសហគមន៍កាន់តែរឹងមាំ និងអនាគតប្រកបដោយនិរន្តរភាព»។

សកម្មភាពនេះគឺជាផ្នែកមួយនៃគម្រោងសមាហរណកម្មការគ្រប់គ្រងធនធានទឹកចម្រុះ ឆ្នាំ២០២៥–២០២៨ របស់អង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអន្តរជាតិ ប្រចាំនៅកម្ពុជា នៅក្នុងស្រុកសង្គមថ្មី។ គម្រោងនេះគាំទ្រសហគមន៍ក្នុងការគ្រប់គ្រងទឹក ដី និងធនធានធម្មជាតិរួមបញ្ចូលគ្នា និងធន់នឹងអាកាសធាតុ ខណៈដែលពង្រឹងសមត្ថភាពមូលដ្ឋាន និងគាំទ្រដល់ជីវភាពរស់នៅប្រកបដោយនិរន្តរភាព។

ព្រឹត្តិការណ៍នេះបានឆ្លុះបញ្ចាំងពីការប្តេជ្ញាចិត្តរួមគ្នារវាងរាជរដ្ឋាភិបាល សហគមន៍ និងដៃគូអភិវឌ្ឍន៍ ក្នុងការលើកកម្ពស់ការគ្រប់គ្រងទឹកប្រកបដោយនិរន្តរភាព ការពារបរិស្ថាន និងធនធានធម្មជាតិ និងការកសាងអនាគតបៃតង និងសន្តិសុខទឹកកាន់តែប្រសើរឡើងសម្រាប់ស្រុកសង្គមថ្មី៕
