EQUITY IN ACTION: ADVANCING GENDER EQUALITY AND DISABILITY INCLUSION
Saturday, May 23, 2026

World Vision International in Cambodia’s Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion (GEDSI) programme is a cross-cutting initiative designed to address systemic inequalities affecting women, girls, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised groups. Despite progress, nearly one in four people lives with a disability, while many continue to face barriers to education, employment, and protection from violence. Integrated across sectors such as education, health, and livelihoods, the programme applies inclusive, evidence-based approaches to tackle the root causes of exclusion and promote equitable access to services, ensuring that no one is left behind in Cambodia’s development.

Through targeted and integrated interventions, the programme strengthens community awareness, advances women’s empowerment, promotes inclusive services, and supports policy engagement in partnership with government and civil society. By 2025, it has reached over 31,000 people, increased women’s participation in decision-making, expanded access to essential services such as birth registration, and contributed to positive shifts in social norms. With continued support, the programme will scale its impact by mobilising youth leadership, strengthening partnerships, and driving sustainable, gender-transformative and disability-inclusive outcomes across Cambodia.
