The Grow ENRICH Theory of Change outlines a comprehensive strategy aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality in targeted regions of Kenya, Tanzania, and Somalia, ultimately improving the health and nutrition status of 658,339 individuals. The overall outcome envisions an enabling policy and structural environment that fosters gender equity across these countries.

The approach consists of four key modules:

  1. Policy Implementation (Macro): Target countries will adopt updated National Nutrition Policies that align with African Union guidelines, incorporating gender-responsive health and nutrition rights.
  2. Service Utilisation (Meso): Women of reproductive age, adolescent girls, and children under two will gain access to improved gender-sensitive nutrition and health services.
  3. Food Production and Consumption (Micro): The programme will promote equitable production and consumption of nutritious foods, enhancing agricultural productivity and community-level interventions.
  4. Capacity Building (Networks, Learning & Advocacy): National civil society organisations and health providers will strengthen their capacity to advocate for sustainable delivery of gender-sensitive health and nutrition services.

Through these modules, the initiative aims to enhance access to diversified nutrient-dense foods, improve community-based malnutrition management, and empower families with essential nutrition knowledge. By fostering networks, learning, and advocacy, the project seeks to create a sustainable impact at macro, meso, and micro levels, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes and gender equity in the targeted regions.
