In Makhanga, a Bible Club supported by World Vision Malawi meets once every week and brings together children for Bible verse recitation, reading of selected scriptures, songs, poems and group discussions. The sessions aim to encourage discipline, positive behaviour and a stronger focus on education among children in the community.

Elube, 16, reflects on how her life has changed after a difficult period when she was not attending school regularly and had lost focus on her education and future goals. She says the support she received through the Bible Club has helped her return to school and rebuild her commitment to learning.

“The bible club made me realize that I was wasting my time away from school ,” says Elube.

Today, things are different. Elube is back in school, attending lessons regularly and thinking more about her future. She says the Masambanjati Bible Club where she belongs,  has played an important role in helping her make these changes.

“I have changed a lot. Now I am back at school because of the support I received,” says Elube.

For Annette, 14, she says she had lost focus on her studies but now she has returned to school and is more committed to her education.

“Before, I was not serious with school and I  used to miss classes for no lesson, but now I attend classes regularly and I am focused on learning so that I can achieve my dream of becoming a doctor,” says Annette.

Masambanjati Bible Club leader, Dickson Chisoni says the programme is helping children develop positive values and a sense of responsibility.

“We are seeing positive changes among the children. Those who had stopped going to school are coming back and others are improving in how they relate with their families and teachers,” says Chisoni.

Since 2023, World Vision Malawi has supported the establishment of 10 Bible Clubs in the area, reaching children with structured activities that encourage learning, discipline and personal growth.
