Football in my village

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

“Before, our footballs were made of banana leaves. Now that we have real balls, we can enjoy playing football more than ever,” said Hoa Mi children club’s member Hoang Van Minh, after the football match held on August 12, 2016 in Xa Re primary school in Huong Tan commune, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province.

More than 60 participants including government representatives, teachers and students of six project communes attended the event.

“We are so thankful to our teachers and World Vision for creating such meaningful playground for us. We will keep the balls in good condition and frequently have football matches between clubs,” happily shared Minh.

A quality leather ball has replaced the once popular banana-leaf ball to make an interesting football match between Hoa Mi FC and Tuoi Than Tien FC.

Two hundred balls were given to two children clubs of Huong Tan commune and primary and secondary schools in six mountainous communes. This is a part of Norwegian Football Association’s support through “Football For All in Vietnam” project, which aims to provide 3,000 footballs to children in World Vision’s Area Development Programs in the Central and Central Highland of Vietnam in order to help children build up their stamina and friendship.
