Proud to connect hometown to the world

In her childhood photobook, Hoàn keeps looking at the images of Japan, the first country outside Vietnam she visited to meet her sponsor.

Having become World Vision’s registered child at a young age, Hoàn has travelled from her labor family with main income from growing cinnamon in Văn Yên district, Yên Bái province, to the faraway Japan.

One thing Hoàn learned from that trip was that she had been a special connection between her community people and Japanese sponsors who have supported and brought positive changes to her hometown.

“I felt like I also played a part in the new look of the schools or the new bridges across the streams helping children go to school easier on rainy days”, happily said Hoàn.

Having grown up in the love and care of the sponsors, Hoàn is now a university freshman, confident, active and independent. Living by herself in the city of Hanoi, she has always been trying hard not only in studying but also in various social activities in university.

“I’m really thankful that I have gained great knowledge and skills for my life through different World Vision’s activities back in my hometown. They are so helpful for my life away from home now,” shared Hoàn.

“When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a teacher or a policewoman. Now I want to be an agricultural engineer to contribute to the agricultural development of my hometown.”
