Thanks from Vietnam!

Thursday, January 17, 2013

On the first day of New Year 2013, Vietnam National Television broadcasted a programme named 'Thanks from Vietnam' on VTV4. It's the message that the Vietnamese government and people want to deliver to all international non-governmental organisations who have been giving their hands to help the country during the past time.

World Vision was present at the meaningful event. Together with World Vision's representative, there was a former registered child.

Tran Thi Bich Diem is the eldest of five daughters of a poor family Hiep Duc district, Quang Nam province. She is now the forth-year student at a university in Nha Trang. The girl joined World Vision's sponsorship programme when she was 9 in 2000. As a sponsored child, she had a chance to communicate with her sponsor, who she regarded as a beloved member of her family. After her parents took part in World Vision's training courses on cultivation and animal husbandry, they were able to improve their income. "My sisters and I can't continue our studies if we didn't receive the support from World Vision," she said at the TV programme.

The TV programme also featured some activities of a Village Development Board and nutrition clubs of World Vision in Yen Thuy district in the northern Hoa Binh province.
