How to raise fund to build a new equipped computer room for the students of Lac Luong Secondary school (Yen Thuy district, Hoa Binh province)? Answer: Loaf of bread.

More precisely, the “love loaf”, an idea from World Vision Korea. The yellow loaf of bread shaped plastic coin boxes, the “piggy banks” if you think about it, were brought to schools in Daejeon, Korea.

More than 100 thousand students in Daejeon joined filling the loaves with their own saving coins, knowing that the money would come to help their Vietnamese peers, who are less advantaged than them.

A part of the money donated were used by World Vision in the project of renovating and equipping a computer room in Lac Luong Secondary school. The fruit of the project came in shape of a new shining multimedia room, replacing the old deprived and degraded one.

New computers, wires, internet equipment and projector, will support the students, many of who are from ethnic minorities, to go far in the way to better education. The loaf that has been dear to Korean hearts will also be a lovely part of their lives.

After 2 months of rapid implementation, the Won 40 million (more than VND 790 million) project was completed and officially opened in January 2017. The ceremony had the honor to welcome students, teachers, education leaders and officers from Daejeon, representing hundreds of thousands of philanthropists who contributed making this joy possible.

More interestingly to know that the “love loaf” donation has still been being counted. The donation will go to more and more World Vision projects in Vietnam in order to bring up the positive changes in living and studying of more children.

For example, also in Yen Thuy district, many parts of Lac Hung Secondary school such as gate, road, walls, fences… were renovated thanks to this resource, helping improve the way to school of the students, especially in rainy days.

Along with that are a lot of learning equipment and toys to make their school time more exciting and constructive.

And when the Korean friends came to visit, the students welcomed them warmly and showed them the significant changes thanks to the small but sincere help from a distant country. The students surrounded the friends from a far with the warmth of the hugs, songs, dances, sport games and meaningful paintings.

“We promise to use the new equipment well, to learn hard and practice goodness, to become serviceable citizens of our country, and at the same time contributing to the great friendship between two countries”, vowed the students of Lac Hung and Lac Luong to the Korean friends.
