World Vision Bangladesh observed International Women Day
Every year 8th March we observe International women’s day with a befitting manner. This year World Vision Bangladesh National Office staff also observed the day where more then 100 National Office staff participated. The main theme of the day was ‘অগ্রগতির মূল কথা, নারী-পুরুষ সমতা’ .
Ms. Sara Zaker – Executive Director of Asiatic Marketing Communication Limited and a very popular stage and TV actress was the chief guest of the program . Sara Zaker highlighted the importance of achieving equality for women and girls not simply because it is a matter of fairness and fundamental human rights, but because development, progress, in so many other areas depends on it. She also mentioned the importance of bring women at any companies or organizations leadership position . She requested all not to judge women by seeing their outlook but their capacity and skill as human being.
WV Bangladesh arranged two television Talk shows on the day which was aired at SOMOY TV and Independent TV where Ms. Merer Afroze Cumki, State Minister, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA) - , Mr. Chandan Z Gomes- Director Advocacy, World Vision Bangladesh, Mr. Ranjon Karmoker - Executive Director STEP Towards Development, Ms. Rekha Das-Director, Step Towards Development spoke on the issue .
This special day was also observed by many Area Development Programs (ADPs) of WVB jointly with CBOs, children, community people, Govt. /Upazilla Administration and NGO coordination committees. They organized Rallies, Discussion sessions, Fair, Folk Song, Drama and Cultural Programs where more then thousands of people participated.
