"Promoting Better Social Care and Support Services for Every Child with Fullness of Life"
Oudung District Office in Kampong Speu province conducted a forum on “Promoting Care Services and Support Children with Fullness of Lives” on March 20, 2012. This event was supported by the Community Care for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project of World Vision Cambodia.
This special event aimed to promote essential social services such as child protection, education, health care, social affairs, legal implementation and birth registration. It was also intended to provide the children and communities a space to raise their concerns. The event created a good opportunity to raise awareness among children, foster care parents and communities on the process and accessibility of these social services.
Chhorn Sok Den, 16, said, “I am so happy that I could participate in this forum; I am aware of HIV and AID prevention, and I asked some questions related to health and child protection.”
The question and answer session emphasized on HIV transmission and prevention, health care, education, child protection, child abuse, social affairs.
There were 250 participants joining the forum including government officials, local authorities, children, students, parents, and World Vision staff.
Kuo Leakhena, 15, said, “I was very excited to join in this event. I gained a better understanding on how to protect children through networking between parents, community, and other organizations. This will contribute to children becoming less vulnerable to being trafficking.”
