The Communications Unit held a Communicating Evidence-based Approach (CEA) Writing Workshop, for the Southern Region Staff of World Vision Ghana. The 3-day training held in Kumasi on the 20th - 22nd of March, 2018, was designed to build staff capacity in capturing of pictures, writing success stories, impact stories and case studies. Staff were grouped into the five (5) virtues of the EAGLES Framework which are Efficiency, Agility, Grace, Love, Execution and Speed. This time, the team replaced the Execution with Effectiveness. Each team worked together to produce pictures that depict one of the photography guidelines and presented to the rest of the team. The teams also worked on identifying passages in stories they had been given, using the 'Seven Step Guide to success stories' helping them to understand what makes a story a success. Each team then wrote their own success stories and presented them to the rest of the teams explaining why their story was a success story.
Staff were also taken through the new branding guidelines of World Vision and understanding the role of Communications. This would make staff become better brand ambassadors for World Vision and, also involve the Communications team when they start planning for new projects that are yet to be implemented, creating the right visibility for the project at any time T.
Staff expressed their gratitude to the facilitators for organising the workshop. They said that this training was truly needed because some staff had no idea how to even start writing a story, let alone a success story. Facilitators were excited about how staff saw the training very helpful and as a true need that had been met. Facilitators encouraged staff to start practicing what they had learnt by writing success stories every month. Each Staff that participated in the workshop was given a certificate, presented by the West African Regional (WAR) Communications Director, Francine Obura, who came to support the Communications team to facilitate the Workshop.
