When Disaster Strikes, Children Need Us Most.

In a matter of minutes, lives were turned upside down. What began as a reported glacier avalanche high in the Himalaya on the Nepal-China border on 26 August 2026 quickly became one of Nepal's most devastating flood emergencies.

Children watched their homes disappear. For children, the impact goes beyond what was lost. It means disrupted education, uncertainty about the future and the loss of the safe spaces they depend on every day.

Now, as communities and families work to recover and rebuild, they need urgent support to restore homes, livelihoods and hope for the future.

How We’re Responding

World Vision International Nepal is working with local partners KIRDAC and Good Neighbors Nepal and relevant government authorities and humanitarian agencies to reach flood-affected children and families in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.

We are delivering emergency food, safe water and essential household supplies while helping protect children and other vulnerable groups. Working alongside government authorities and humanitarian partners, World Vision has launched a 90-day emergency response. Response Priorities in the Relief Phase for the first 30 Days include, emergency food assistance, shelter kits and essential household items, hygiene and WASH support, including assistance for pregnant and lactating women, protection support and dignity kits for women and girls and psychosocial support for children and families. In the Recovery Phase, the response will prioritise livelihood recovery and WASH support and help children return to learning and reconnect with essential services, restoring a sense of wellbeing and livelihoods.

Floods Took Their Home, But Not Their Hope

When the flash floods swept through Devighat, Bimala's family lost their home, farmland and much of what they owned. Like many families in the community, they were forced to leave behind everything they had built over the years.
