Minutes of Destruction. Years of Recovery

When Disaster Strikes, Children Need Us Most.

In a matter of minutes, lives were turned upside down. What began as a reported glacier avalanche high in the Himalaya on the Nepal-China border on 26 August 2026 quickly became one of Nepal's most devastating flood emergencies.

Children watched their homes disappear. For children, the impact goes beyond what was lost. It means disrupted education, uncertainty about the future and the loss of the safe spaces they depend on every day.

Now, as communities and families work to recover and rebuild, they need urgent support to restore homes, livelihoods and hope for the future.

"I had to leave my cycle and ball behind, and the river swept them away. The flood took everything I owned," says 8-year-old child.
