World Vision Zambia Launches #TheFlowFund campaign to Provide Sanitary Towels to 5,000 Rural Girls

In a bold effort to promote gender equality and improve the lives of young girls in rural Zambia, World Vision Zambia has officially launched #TheFlowFund, an innovative initiative dedicated to providing access to quality reusable sanitary towels. The campaign aims to raise K700,000 by December 2025, with the goal of reaching 5,000 girls and helping to break the stigma surrounding menstruation in communities across the country.
#TheFlowFund is a vital part of the broader #StrongGirlsStrongZambia program, which seeks to empower 15,000 vulnerable girls who are at risk of or have been rescued from child marriage. By addressing menstrual health management, the initiative aims to foster dignity, boost confidence, and ensure girls can stay in school without interruption.

During the launch, World Vision Zambia Board Representative Mr. Simon Ziba, highlighted the significance of the initiative: “Through #TheFlowFund, we bring dignity, break taboos, and give girls opportunities to thrive. Every girl deserves to manage her menstruation with dignity and comfort.”
The campaign has received enthusiastic support from key partners, including Absa Bank Zambia PLC, AJAY Industrial Corporation, and Pick n Pay Zambia, all committed to empowering girls and making a tangible impact.
Absa Bank Zambia, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Mr. Mato Shimabale, expressed his unwavering support: “Supporting #TheFlowFund aligns with our commitment to empowering communities and fostering inclusive growth. We are proud to stand with World Vision Zambia in this vital effort to uplift vulnerable girls.”

Representing the Ministry of Education, the Senior National Planner in charge of Budgets, Projects, and Programmes, Mr. Samuel Mutale, emphasised the importance of menstrual hygiene in education: “Access to menstrual hygiene products is fundamental to ensuring girls stay in school. We commend World Vision Zambia’s efforts to break barriers and support girls’ education, which is essential for national development.”
And AJAY Industrial Corporation Country and Director, Mr. Poroshotham Karamala, added: “We are happy to partner with World Vision Zambia on this social cause because we know that menstruation is not optional. With #TheFlowFund, we are taking a significant step toward ensuring every girl can manage her menstruation with dignity and continue her education without interruption.”

World Vision Zambia Resource Acquisition and Communications Director, Pennia Mavedzenge, also stressed the importance of community support: “No contribution is too small. We urge everyone to donate whatever they can, your resources, regardless of size, can make a huge difference in a girl’s life. Every step counts in breaking barriers and building a brighter future for our girls.”
Through this campaign, World Vision Zambia will collaborate with two prominent influencers to amplify its message and reach a wider audience. Tisa The Trendsetter, a well-known social media personality and trendsetter, will use her platform to promote awareness about menstrual health and the importance of supporting girls’ dignity and education. Her influence among young people will help break down misconceptions and stigmas surrounding menstruation, encouraging more community engagement and support.
Additionally, the campaign will partner with Christine Nkole, a respected Gospel artist and community advocate. Christine’s involvement will bring a powerful voice to the initiative, inspiring hope and resilience among girls and their families. Through her music and public appearances, she will highlight the importance of empowering girls and ensuring they have access to necessary menstrual hygiene resources.
