Annual Report FY25 WV Syria Response
Tuesday, January 20, 2026

In 2025, World Vision Syria Response (WVSR) was able to access areas of Syria previously unreachable, allowing teams to meet face‑to‑face with communities we have supported for years and to witness firsthand the impact of our work. These visits offered powerful insights into the needs of children and families, reaffirming our commitment to ensuring every child can thrive, even in the most fragile contexts.

Since the onset of the Syrian crisis in 2011, WVSR has delivered humanitarian and early recovery assistance across Syria, Jordan, and Türkiye. In Fiscal Year 2025, our integrated, multi-sectoral programs reached over 4.22 million people, including 2.53 million children, through interventions in health and nutrition, protection, WASH, education, and livelihoods.

Despite progress, Syria remains one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. 16.7 million people, including 7.5 million children, require aid; 2.45 million children are out of school; and 2 million face the risk of malnutrition. Fourteen years of conflict, economic collapse, and drought have left more than 90 percent of Syrians living below the poverty line, with one in four in extreme poverty. Following the regime’s fall in December 2024, the transitional government has prioritized stabilizing the country, yet significant humanitarian and structural challenges persist.

Food insecurity affects 9.1 million people, while agricultural production in Aleppo and Idlib has plummeted by more than 95 percent. Malnutrition is rising, with 650,000 children chronically affected, and widespread funding cuts have forced hundreds of health and nutrition facilities to scale back or suspend services. Meanwhile, 14.6 million people lack access to safe water, and 7.6 million remain in acute need of WASH support.

Amid these challenges, 2025 marked a meaningful turning point for our team. Visiting project sites once beyond reach and hearing directly from families strengthened our resolve and demonstrated the tangible difference our programs make—children attending school, accessing clean water, and receiving nutritious food in communities that were once isolated. These moments underscored the heart of our mission and continue to guide our work in Syria and the region.
