The Re-Building Regreening Villages (RRV) Biodigesters Project is a climate resilience and livelihood initiative supporting vulnerable rural communities in Cambodia. Implemented from September 2024 to March 2026 with a budget of USD 200,000 funded by World Vision Hong Kong, the project installs 200 household biodigesters across Preah Vihear, Kampong Chhnang, and Banteay Meanchey provinces. By providing time-saving and clean energy through biogas for cooking and lighting, the project reduces reliance on firewood, lowers carbon emissions, and transforms animal waste into organic fertilizer—enhancing food security, agricultural productivity, and household income.

Beyond infrastructure, the project invests in long-term sustainability by strengthening community capacity through training in financial literacy, biodigester management, and sustainable waste practices. Local structures, including Biogas Management Committees and agricultural cooperatives, are empowered to manage and maintain the systems, ensuring ownership and scalability. This integrated approach contributes to climate change mitigation, reduces deforestation, and builds resilient, self-reliant communities capable of driving their own sustainable development.
