IMPROVING CHILD NUTRITION AND MATERNAL HEALTH ACROSS CAMBODIA’S MOST VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES

World Vision International in Cambodia’s health and nutrition programme is a strategic, nationwide investment in improving child survival and maternal health in some of the country’s most vulnerable communities. With more than one in five children under five affected by malnutrition—including 22% who are stunted and 10% who are wasted—the programme directly addresses a critical barrier to human capital development and long-term economic growth. Implemented across multiple provinces in close partnership with government health systems, the programme strengthens access to quality primary healthcare services while promoting evidence-based nutrition and childcare practices among mothers and caregivers.
Through an integrated, community-driven approach, the programme builds the capacity of frontline health workers, supports sustained behaviour change through initiatives such as the ENOUGH Campaign, and reinforces national and sub-national health systems. By 2025, it has reached tens of thousands of children and caregivers, improving dietary diversity, increasing exclusive breastfeeding, and ensuring timely treatment for severe malnutrition. With continued donor investment, the programme is well-positioned to scale its impact—expanding into underserved areas, advancing gender-responsive programming, and integrating livelihoods and mental health support to deliver sustainable, equitable health and nutrition outcomes for Cambodia’s most at-risk families.
