Friday, May 16, 2025

This publication presents a collection of inspiring impact stories from the Eco-School Project in Ekdara Rural Municipality, where climate-smart and inclusive education is transforming young lives. The stories highlight the construction of a new RCC school building equipped with gender- and disability-friendly WASH facilities, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all children. Vibrant reading camps have boosted students’ confidence and literacy skills, extending learning beyond the classroom. Teachers have been empowered through specialized training in effective, child-centered teaching methods, while classrooms have been enriched with storybooks, learning materials, and technology to make learning more engaging. The project also promotes environmental awareness through the formation of Eco Clubs and the development of green, sustainable school premises. In collaboration with local government, guidelines for Green Schools and Eco Clubs are being developed to institutionalize climate-resilient practices. These stories reflect a powerful journey of community-driven change, where education, sustainability, and inclusivity come together to build a brighter future for marginalized children.

The project was implemented by Social Development Centre (SDC) Mahottari with support from World Vision International Nepal and funding from World Vision Korea.
