Clean water and safe bathrooms should be accessible to absolutely everyone, without exception. In many communities, women, girls, people with disabilities, and elderly individuals face unique challenges and are often left out of decisions regarding water and sanitation. Through our Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in WASH initiative, we are changing that.

We go beyond basic infrastructure by purposefully designing facilities that meet everyone’s needs, such as adding wheelchair ramps to water points and creating private spaces for girls. More importantly, we empower women and marginalised groups to take on leadership roles in local water committees. By breaking down social barriers and ensuring everyone has a voice, World Vision Zambia is making sure that our water and sanitation projects bring health, dignity, and fairness to every single member of the community.
