Iraq is on a journey of healing, where communities continue to face the challenges of displacement, political violence, and the reintegration of returnees. Since 2014, more than 5.1 million people have returned home, yet over 1 million people remain displaced.
Peacebuilding efforts are helping bridge divides by offering mental health and psychosocial support, fostering reconciliation, and promoting tolerance through education and community initiatives.
For children, peace means safety, freedom, love, and respect; a vision of coexistence and unity that reminds us of the power of empathy, kindness, and even simple activities like football to bring people together and nurture a more peaceful and resilient Iraq.
