SITUATION REPORT 20
Friday, January 2, 2026

As of 1 January 2026, around 409,000 people remain displaced due to the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict, despite a gradual decrease since 27th December 2025 following the ceasefire. Displacement continues across multiple provinces, with the highest numbers in Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey. While conditions have shown early signs of stabilisation, the situation remains fragile, with ongoing humanitarian needs driven by displacement, disrupted services, and damage to homes, schools, health facilities, and critical infrastructure—particularly affecting children and other vulnerable groups.

World Vision International in Cambodia has been delivering multi-sectoral humanitarian assistance to displaced children and families across Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health and Nutrition; Protection and Psychosocial Support; Shelter/Non-Food Items; and WASH in Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, Battambang, and Oddar Meanchey provinces. Between 11 December 2025 and 2 January 2026, World Vision reached 108,971 displaced people, including 33,401 children, people with disabilities, over 1,304 pregnant women and lactating mothers, through the provision of food assistance, learning materials, child-friendly spaces, hygiene and sanitation facilities, nutrition support, shelter items, and psychosocial services.

World Vision’s response is implemented in close coordination with the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), relevant line ministries, local authorities, UN agencies, NGO partners, and the Humanitarian Response Forum (HRF). The organisation actively contributes to joint needs assessments, co-chairs the Cash Working Group and WASH Working Group, and supports coordinated planning and reporting to ensure principled, timely, and effective assistance. This response is made possible through the generous support of donors, support offices, private sector partners, embassies, faith partners, and the Cambodian public, whose collaboration and generosity continue to enable life-saving assistance and protection for displaced children and families during this critical period.
