Context and Conflict Analysis: Sustainable and Resilient Future Ninewa Project

World Vision has conducted a Context and Conflict Analysis in Iraq as part of the Sustainable and Resilient Future – Ninewa Project under ANCP Phase II, supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).

The assessment explores the changing conflict dynamics, livelihood pressures, climate-related challenges, exclusion, governance, and local capacities for peace across Mosul, Hammam Al-Alil, Nimrud, and Hatra.

The findings show that while security conditions have improved, communities continue to face significant pressures linked to economic hardship, unequal access to opportunities and services, climate stress, and exclusion.

The analysis also highlights strong local capacities for peace, including community networks, tribal and religious leaders, local authorities, youth initiatives, and other community structures.

The findings provide practical recommendations to strengthen fair and transparent targeting, inclusive participation, context-responsive livelihoods, communication and accountability, and adaptive conflict-sensitive programming.
