World Vision is implementing the Unlock Literacy Model, which aims to empower schools, parents, and communities to support children’s literacy development and to promote strong literacy habits among early grade learners both inside and outside the classroom.
The model seeks to equip learners with skills namely, letter knowledge, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. By focusing on enhancing literacy instruction, the model ensures that children not only learn to read but also remain motivated in the classroom. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of the Unlock Literacy (UL) Project Model on the reading results for girls and boys in early grades in selected World Vision implementing districts in Uganda.
