Opportunities and Barriers to Mental Health Services for Youth by Government, NGOs and the Private Sector in Bangladesh
Sunday, June 12, 2022
Mental well-being has been one of the most neglected areas in the entire healthcare service structure in Bangladesh. While this field has been increasingly critical due to the long impact of COVID-19, much more can still be done by both the government and non-governmental agencies.
This research is one of the very few initiatives that try to understand the situation on one hand and identify ways to address the issues on the other during the pandemic. In particular, this study aims to assess the availability, existing barriers, and quality of mental health services available to the youth and adolescents in four major districts of Dhaka, Chattogram, Barishal, and Dinajpur in Bangladesh.
