World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) responds to the recent floods, targeting to support 20,000 households (HHs) over the next three months.  

With initial funding from START fund worth $152,125, World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) assisted 1,718 households (HHs) or 8,590 people in Bandarban district through the distribution of Multi-Purpose Cash Grant (MPCG), special grants for person with disability, hygiene kits and hygiene awareness orientation.  

WVB also mobilized resources (National Emergency Preparedness and Response Fund $25,000) in the Jamalpur district (Islampur and Dewangonj upazilas) and provided Multi-Purpose Cash Grant (MPCG) support to 400 affected HHs through Mobile Money Transfer (MMT). The Last Mile Mobile Solution (LMMS) has also been used in the response programme.

WVB constantly coordinates with the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), Government of Bangladesh (GoB), Needs Assessment Working Group-Bangladesh, Food Security Cluster, WASH cluster, Health Cluster, Early Recovery Cluster, Start Fund Bangladesh, INGO Emergency Subcommittee, and local and national NGOs working in the flood prone areas. World Vision also actively participates and coordinates with the humanitarian clusters mobilized in affected areas.

For this response, WVB has deployed four National Disaster Management Team (NDMT) members in Bandarban to roll out emergency response implementation and 130 trained staff are ready to be deployed if needed.
