Kirkuk, Iraq -  As a widow and sole provider for her family of nine, Al'aa has opened a small shop where she sells purified water to her community. She makes sure families, especially children, have reliable access to clean, safe drinking water.

As part of the Strengthening Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) approach in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), World Vision Iraq supported Al'aa to make sure she could take on this new venture.

Not only is Al'aa supporting her community, but her new business has become her family's primary source of income, significantly improving their financial stability and overall wellbeing.

World Vision Middle East & Eastern Europe Regional Director Eleanor Monbiot visited Al'aa in Kirkuk, Iraq.
