March 15 marks another year since the Syria conflict began—a date etched into the collective memory of millions who have endured hardship, loss, and resilience over more than a decade. Each year, this moment calls us to reflect not only on the scale of the crisis but also on the courage of those who continue to rebuild their lives, one day at a time.

As I look back on the past year, what stands out most are the significant changes that have taken place in Syria as well as moments of change—small but powerful shifts that signal new possibilities and renewed hope for the Syrian people. For the first time, World Vision Syria Response and partner staff were able to access areas previously beyond reach. These visits allowed us to reconnect with communities we have long supported, and witness firsthand the impact of our work.

In areas that only recently became accessible, meeting staff and partners on the ground and hearing directly from children and families were moving moments. These encounters reaffirmed our core mission: ensuring that every child, even in the most fragile contexts, has the opportunity to thrive.

Among the most memorable moments was visiting projects that had once been cut off due to insecurity. Seeing children return to classrooms, drink clean water, and receive nutritious food in communities that had long been isolated reaffirmed the deep purpose behind our work. These were not just program activities; they were a reflection of dignity restored and hope revived.

Throughout the year, our teams continued delivering essential humanitarian and recovery assistance across many parts of Syria. From water and sanitation to food and nutrition, from education to livelihoods, we remained present—supporting families whose needs remain significant. At the same time, we continued to stand with vulnerable communities in Jordan and Türkiye, recognizing the needs of Syrians across borders.

This year’s progress reflects the breadth of our interventions and the depth of our commitment. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, the strength of our partnerships, and the generosity of our supporters, we reached more than 4.2 million people, many of them children whose futures are now just a little brighter.

And yet, the road ahead remains long. Millions of children still face uncertainty, poverty, and the effects of conflict. To truly change the trajectory of their lives, we must sustain our efforts, secure continued funding, and uphold an unwavering commitment to their safety and wellbeing.

The changes that have taken place in Syria have opened the door to new opportunities to help Syrians rebuild and restore their lives. Following 14 years of conflict, we move forward with a sense of determined hope—hope that Syria will continue its journey toward recovery, and hope that every child across Syria and beyond will have the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy, and able to experience life in its fullness.

Because even after years of crisis, hope remains of a better tomorrow for Syria and Syrians.
