A group of 14 Australian students and teachers from Fairhills High School, Australia, visited World Vision’s working areas in Dien Bien, Hoa Binh and Quang Nam provinces from November 27th to December 7th 2012.
During the trip, they met and played with children at kindergartens and students at primary and secondary schools in Tua Chua, Yen Thuy and Hien districts. They participated in voluntary work such as making bamboo fences, painting the sanitation communication board on how to wash the hands in Yen Thuy. They also visited poor families and met with sponsored children under World Vision’s sponsorship programme in Tua Chua.
"This trip will change my life. There is something makes me sad when I know ethnic minority children, who are younger than me, have to study in boarding schools with very difficult conditions,” said Jonathan Trent, 17, a student of the 11 grade.
“But there is something makes me warm when I see World Vision has effectively helped poor children and their families. We have fun moments with Vietnamese students when we together danced "Mua Sap" and the Australian traditional dance at the schools. I thank World Vision for giving me this great opportunity," he added.
