Germany provides urgent nutrition support to pregnant women and children

Phnom Penh, September 12, 2025 — In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis along Cambodia’s conflict-affected border areas, the Federal Republic of Germany is funding emergency nutrition support, implemented by World Vision Cambodia. The initiative will reach more than 1,000 children under five and 572 pregnant and lactating women living in affected communities in Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, and Oddar Meanchey provinces.
Affected families currently depend on food supplies such as instant noodles, canned fish, and rice. While sufficient for daily meals, they do not meet nutritional values required to sustain young mothers and their toddlers.
To address these nutrition-related risks, the project is delivering Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food (RUSF) to children under five years old, and Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to malnourished children identified through screening. Pregnant and lactating women are also receiving Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) containing iron and folic acid to support maternal health. Nutrition screening is conducted by qualified health providers using standard tools such as MUAC measurements and weight-for-height assessments, with severe cases referred for specialized treatment.
The distribution process has been coordinated with Safety Centre Committees (SCCs), local authorities, and Provincial Health Departments (PHDs) to ensure that support reaches those most in need in the displacement sites. “Through this emergency nutrition support, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable”, said Dr. Gidon Windecker, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy Phnom Penh. “This intervention stands in a long line of projects implemented by Germany in the areas of food security, health and social protection to improve the lives of Cambodian families. This contribution is part of a wider European effort. The European Union has provided 700,000 Euros last month to address the urgent humanitarian needs of affected communities. As a member of Team Europe and one of its largest contributors, Germany complements these EU-wide efforts through its own bilateral support.”
“Pregnant women and new mothers need special care and nutrition to stay strong, recover well after birth, and provide the best nourishment for their babies. With timely support, children can grow up healthy, mothers can regain strength, and families can find resilience even in the midst of displacement. Every child deserves the chance not just to survive, but to thrive,” said Janes Imanuel Ginting, National Director of World Vision International in Cambodia.
The project also responds to risks heightened by the monsoon season. Flooding in displacement sites has increased the risk of waterborne diseases such as diarrhoea, a major contributor to child malnutrition. At the same time, Infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices have been severely disrupted due to trauma, stress, and crowded shelters. Many mothers report difficulty breastfeeding, and some caregivers resort to inadequate substitutes like diluted canned milk or plain porridge. Hence, without immediate intervention to deliver supplementary feeding, micronutrient support, IYCF counselling, and basic nutrition surveillance, the risk of a preventable nutrition crisis is imminent.

រាជធានីភ្នំពេញ – ថ្ងៃទី១២ ខែកញ្ញា ឆ្នាំ២០២៥: ដើម្បីឆ្លើយតបតម្រូវការមនុស្សធម៌ជាបន្តបន្ទាប់ នៅជំរំភៀសសឹកតាមតំបន់ព្រំដែនដែលរងផលប៉ះពាល់ដោយជម្លោះកម្ពុជា-ថៃ សាធារណរដ្ឋសហព័ន្ធអាល្លឺម៉ង់ កំពុងផ្តល់មូលនិធិគាំទ្រជំនួយអាហារូបត្ថម្ភបន្ទាន់ ដែលអនុវត្តដោយអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអន្តរជាតិប្រចាំកម្ពុជា។ គំនិតផ្តួចផ្តើមនេះ នឹងជួយដល់កុមារអាយុក្រោម ៥ ឆ្នាំ ជាង ១.000 នាក់ រួមទាំងស្ត្រីមានផ្ទៃពោះ និងកំពុងបំបៅដោះកូន ចំនួន ៥៧២ នាក់ ដែលកំពុងរស់នៅសហគមន៍រងផលប៉ះពាល់ ក្នុងខេត្តព្រះវិហារ សៀមរាប និងឧត្តរមានជ័យ។
បច្ចុប្បន្ននេះ សហគមន៍ដែលរងផលប៉ះពាល់ ជាពិសេសកុមារតូចៗ និងស្ត្រីមានផ្ទៃពោះ ឬស្ត្រីបំបៅដោះកូន ពឹងផ្អែកលើការផ្តល់ជំនួយជាអាហារ ដូចជា មីកញ្ចប់ ត្រីកំប៉ុង និងអង្ករជាដើម។ ខណៈពេលដែលអាហារទាំងនេះគ្រប់គ្រាន់សម្រាប់ទ្រទ្រង់អាហារប្រចាំថ្ងៃ ប៉ុន្តែនៅតែមិនអាចបំពេញបាននូវតម្លៃអាហារូបត្ថម្ភដែលត្រូវការដើម្បីទ្រទ្រង់សុខភាពម្តាយ និងកុមារតូចៗនោះទេ។
ដើម្បីដោះស្រាយហានិភ័យទាំងនេះ គម្រោងបាននិងកំពុងផ្តល់អាហារបំប៉នដែលរួចរាល់អាចបរិភោគបានសម្រាប់ព្យាបាលកុមារកង្វះអាហារូបត្ថម្ភស្រួចស្រាល់មធ្យម (RUSF) និងកុមារកង្វះអាហារូបត្ថម្ភស្រួចស្រាល់ធ្ងន់ធ្ងរ (RUTF) អាយុក្រោម ៥ ឆ្នាំ (៦-៥៩ ខែ) ដែលត្រូវបានកំណត់តាមរយៈការស្រាវជ្រាវ។ ស្ត្រីមានផ្ទៃពោះ និងបំបៅដោះកូន ក៏នឹងទទួលបានអាហារបំប៉នមីក្រូសារជាតិច្រើន (MMS) ដែលមានជាតិដែក និងអាស៊ីតហ្វូលិក ដើម្បីទ្រទ្រង់សុខភាពមាតា។ ការត្រួតពិនិត្យស្ថានភាពអាហារូបត្ថម្ភ ត្រូវបានធ្វើឡើងដោយអ្នកឯកទេសសុខាភិបាល ដោយប្រើឧបករណ៍ស្តង់ដារវាស់ជុំវិញពាក់កណ្តាលដើមដៃ (MUAC) និងការវាយតម្លៃទម្ងន់ធៀបនឹងប្រវែង/កម្ពស់ ហើយចំពោះករណីធ្ងន់ធ្ងរ ត្រូវបានបញ្ជូនទៅព្យាបាលបន្ត។
ដំណើរការនៃការចែកចាយជំនួយនេះត្រូវបានសម្របសម្រួលដោយគណៈកម្មាធិការមណ្ឌលសុវត្ថិភាព អាជ្ញាធរមូលដ្ឋាន និងមន្ទីរសុខាភិបាល ដើម្បីធានាថាជំនួយពិតទៅដល់អ្នកដែលត្រូវការបំផុតនៅជំរំភៀសសឹក។ លោកបណ្ឌិត Gidon Windecker អនុប្រធាននៃកិច្ចសហប្រតិបត្តិការអភិវឌ្ឍន៍ប្រចាំស្ថានទូតអាល្លឺម៉ង់ បានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា៖ «តាមរយៈការគាំទ្រជំនួយអាហារូបត្ថម្ភនេះ យើងគូសបញ្ជាក់ពីការប្តេជ្ញាចិត្តរបស់យើងក្នុងការការពារក្រុមដែលងាយរងគ្រោះបំផុត។ អន្តរាគមន៍នេះគឺជាផ្នែកមួយនៃគម្រោងជាបន្តបន្ទាប់ដែលអនុវត្តដោយប្រទេសអាល្លឺម៉ង់ នៅក្នុងវិស័យសុខស្បៀង សុខភាព និងការការពារសង្គម ដើម្បីលើកកម្ពស់ជីវភាពប្រជាពលរដ្ឋកម្ពុជា។ ការចូលរួមចំណែកនេះ គឺជាផ្នែកមួយនៃកិច្ចខិតខំប្រឹងប្រែងរបស់សហភាពអឺរ៉ុប។ សហភាពអឺរ៉ុបបានផ្តល់ថវិកាចំនួន ៧០០.000 អឺរ៉ូ កាលពីខែមុន ដើម្បីឆ្លើយតបតម្រូវការមនុស្សធម៌ជាបន្ទាន់របស់សហគមន៍ដែលរងផលប៉ះពាល់។ ក្នុងនាមជាសមាជិកសហភាពអឺរ៉ុប និងជាអ្នករួមចំណែកដ៏ធំបំផុតមួយ អាល្លឺម៉ង់បំពេញកិច្ចខិតខំប្រឹងប្រែងរបស់សហភាពអឺរ៉ុបតាមរយៈការគាំទ្រទ្វេភាគីរបស់ខ្លួន»។
នាយកប្រចាំប្រទេសអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកប្រចាំនៅកម្ពុជា លោក អ៉ីម៉ានូអ៊ែល ហ្គីនទីញ បានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា៖ «ស្ត្រីមានផ្ទៃពោះ និងម្តាយទើបនឹងសម្រាលកូនត្រូវការការថែទាំ និងអាហារូបត្ថម្ភពិសេស ដើម្បីរក្សាភាពរឹងមាំ ជាសះស្បើយក្រោយសម្រាល និងផ្តល់អាហារបំប៉នល្អបំផុតសម្រាប់ទារក។ តាមរយៈការគាំទ្រទាន់ពេលវេលា កុមារអាចលូតលាស់ប្រកបដោយសុខភាពល្អ ម្តាយឆាប់មានភាពរឹងមាំឡើងវិញ ហើយគ្រួសារអាចមានភាពធន់ ទោះបីជាស្ថិតភាពភៀសសឹកក៏ដោយ។ កុមារគ្រប់រូបសមនឹងទទួលបានឱកាសមិនត្រឹមតែរស់រានមានជីវិតប៉ុណ្ណោះទេ ប៉ុន្តែដើម្បីលូតលាស់»។
ជំនួយអាហារូបត្ថម្ភបន្ទាន់នេះ ក៏ឆ្លើយតបនឹងបញ្ហាប្រឈមបង្កឡើងអំឡុងរដូវវស្សានេះផងដែរ។ ទឹកដក់នៅជុំវិញជំរំភៀសសឹក បានបង្កើនហានិភ័យនៃជំងឺឆ្លងតាមទឹក ដូចជារាគរូស ដែលជាកត្តាជំរុញធ្វើឱ្យមានកង្វះអាហារូបត្ថម្ភរបស់កុមារ។ ការចិញ្ចឹមទារក និងកុមារ ត្រូវបានរំខានយ៉ាងធ្ងន់ធ្ងរ ដោយសារតែការប៉ះពាល់ផ្លូវចិត្ត ភាពតានតឹង និងកន្លែងស្នាក់នៅដែលមានមនុស្សច្រើន។ ម្តាយជាច្រើនរាយការណ៍ពីការលំបាកក្នុងការបំបៅកូនដោយទឹកដោះម្តាយ ហើយអ្នកថែទាំខ្លះងាកទៅរកការប្រើប្រាស់ផលិតផលជំនួស ដូចជាទឹកដោះគោកំប៉ុង ឬបបរធម្មតា។ ដូច្នេះហើយ ប្រសិនបើគ្មានការអន្តរាគមន៍ទាន់ពេលវេលាក្នុងផ្តល់អាហារបំប៉នបន្ថែម អាហារបន្ថែមមីក្រូសារជាតិ ការផ្តល់ប្រឹក្សាអន្តរបុគ្គលស្តីពីអាហារូបត្ថម្ភមាតា ទារក និងកុមារតូច និងការតាមដាន រួមទាំងអន្តរាគមន៍អាហារូបត្ថម្ភជាមូលដ្ឋានដំបូងទេ នោះហានិភ័យនៃបញ្ហាកង្វះអាហារូបត្ថម្ភនៅកាន់តែខិតជិតពួកគេបំផុត។
