Leaving No One Behind: Delivering Disability-Inclusive WASH for All

Clean water, safe toilets, and proper handwashing facilities are basic human rights that must be accessible to everyone, especially children and adults living with disabilities. In many rural communities, individuals with physical, visual, or cognitive impairments face massive daily hurdles just trying to access a water pump or use a standard latrine, often relying entirely on family members. 

Guided by World Vision’s global Disability-Inclusive WASH Guidance, we are actively removing these barriers. We build inclusive infrastructure by adding smooth access ramps, wide doors, sturdy grab bars, and easy-to-use tap handles to our water and sanitation systems. Furthermore, we train local water committees to include people with disabilities in decision-making and provide tailored hygiene support for caregivers. By designing with everyone in mind, World Vision Zambia ensures that our projects deliver true independence, health, and dignity to every single member of the community.
