Closure Report- Bhaluka Area Programme (AP), World Vision Bangladesh

World Vision Bangladesh inaugurated the Bhaluka AP through a sponsorship programme in 2004. Three major areas of interventions were: Health, Nutrition and WASH, Livelihoods, and Child Sponsorship.

At the end-of-programme evaluation conducted in 2020, results showed a higher awareness of health issues surrounding mothers and children. The evaluation showed that 80.6% of women gave birth with a skilled attendant present, trained by the Bhaluka AP. Livelihoods also improved with results showing that 84.1% of households had one or more adults earning an income. This number was 70% in 2018. The community also demonstrated greater engagement within families and between children and their community. These successes formed the basis of WVB concluding its operations in Bhaluka on 30 September 2021.
