Disinfecting the Great Mosque of Herat Province

Tuesday, July 28, 2020

On 24th February, the first positive case of COVID-19 was registered by Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) from Herat province. Crowded public places, such as markets and mosques, were at risk of spreading the virus. To reduce the risk of coronavirus outbreak, World Vision Afghanistan disinfects public places on a daily basis. The Great Mosque of Herat is one of those places. Despite the COVID-19 crisis, some people are continuing to attend the Great Mosque of Herat. Recognising this, World Vision is trying to make this location safer. World Vision is also working with faith leaders to promote other protective behaviours, such as regular hand washing with soap and water, and social distancing. Thanks to UN OCHA for providing financial support to make this possible. World Vision is helping to protect people during the crisis.
