From the Issakura community, Grace begins each day before sunrise, not with books, but with buckets. Collecting water is not a choice for her, but a necessity. On rainy days, she is grateful for the opportunity to fill two buckets before school. On dry days, she waits in the dark, sometimes until 10 p.m., just for the chance to collect water.

After school, while many children play or rest, Grace walks for 15 minutes to reach the nearest water source. She then waits for hours before returning home with heavy buckets, only to repeat the process the following day. The water she collects is untreated, yet it is all her family has to drink, cook with and clean with.

This is not just Grace’s story. It’s the story of countless children in Issakura. No child should have to choose between education and survival. Let’s stand with Grace. Let’s stand with Issakura.
