World Vision Ghana and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Partner to Advance Urban Development

Led by the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, the delegation held discussions with World Vision Ghana’s National Director, Dr. Tinah Mukunda, and members of the Senior Leadership Team on strengthening strategic collaboration in the wellbeing of children, families and communities.
The meeting focused on several priority areas, including healthcare delivery, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), child protection, nutrition, environmental health, technical and vocational education, capacity building, urban resilience, and sustainable development.
During the engagement, the Mayor highlighted the increasing need for collaborative approaches to addressing the complex challenges facing rapidly growing urban centres such as Kumasi. He emphasised the importance of partnerships in improving access to essential services, promoting youth empowerment, strengthening community development, and enhancing environmental sustainability.
Hon. Richard Ofori Boadi Agyemang noted that improving water and sanitation services, protecting vulnerable children, expanding economic opportunities for young people, and investing in skills development remain key priorities for the city. He therefore called for stronger collaboration between the Assembly and development partners to support ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for residents.
World Vision Ghana welcomed the visit and described the engagement as both timely and strategic, particularly as the organisation develops its new national strategy, which places greater emphasis on empowering cities and urban communities through innovative and sustainable programming.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside government institutions, local authorities, and other stakeholders to deliver effective interventions that address the needs of vulnerable populations while strengthening community resilience.
Discussions also explored opportunities for joint initiatives that could contribute to improved health outcomes, enhanced sanitation and hygiene services, increased access to quality education and skills training, and stronger child protection systems within the Kumasi Metropolis.
The meeting underscored the shared vision of both institutions to create thriving urban communities where children and families can access opportunities, realise their potential, and live in safe and healthy environments.
Hon. Richard Ofori Boadi Agyemang further assured development partners that all interventions and investments within the Kumasi Metropolis would be managed with transparency, accountability, and a strong focus on sustainability and impact.
The engagement concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen collaboration and identify practical areas of partnership that will support the city's development agenda and contribute to improved wellbeing for residents.
