World Vision Ghana and Volta Regional Council Partner to Improve Water, Sanitation and Health Services

World Vision Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) under the Universal Service Coverage for Water, Sanitation and Health Programme, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve access to essential services and enhance community wellbeing in the Agortime-Ziope District.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to safe drinking water, improved sanitation services, and quality healthcare interventions, while supporting sustainable development across the district.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen ongoing efforts to address water, sanitation, and health challenges affecting underserved communities, particularly children and families. By bringing together regional leadership, local authorities, and development expertise, the initiative seeks to accelerate progress towards universal access to essential services and an improved quality of life for all.
Through this partnership, World Vision Ghana and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council will work closely with stakeholders to implement interventions that promote healthier communities, improved hygiene practices, and greater resilience against preventable health risks associated with unsafe water and inadequate sanitation.
Speaking on the significance of the MoU, Bismark Norgbe, Senior Programme Manager for WASH at World Vision US, together with the World Vision Ghana delegation led by Robel Wamisho, Associate Director for WASH; Cephas Wedam, WASH Programme Manager; Irvine Aboagye, Regional Operations Manager; and the Agortime-Ziope Area Programme Team, emphasised that access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare remains fundamental to child wellbeing and community development.
World Vision Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with government institutions and local authorities to deliver sustainable solutions that empower communities and create lasting impact.
The programme is expected to deliver far-reaching benefits, including improved public health outcomes, a reduction in waterborne diseases, increased access to safe and reliable water sources, and strengthened community capacity to manage and sustain critical services.
World Vision Ghana also acknowledged the leadership and support of the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and the commitment demonstrated by the Agortime-Ziope District Assembly in advancing the district’s development agenda.
The signing of the MoU represents another important milestone in World Vision Ghana’s efforts to collaborate with government and development partners to iimprove the health, dignity and wellbeing of children, families and underserved communities.
As implementation progresses, the partnership is expected to contribute significantly to local development priorities while supporting broader national efforts to achieve universal access to water, sanitation, and health services.
