The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) has entered into a strategic partnership with World Vision Ghana (WVG), following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the CTVET Head Office in Accra.

The collaboration seeks to strengthen technical and vocational education across Ghana and expand opportunities for young people, particularly those in underserved communities.

In his remarks, the Director-General of CTVET, Mr Zakaria Sulemana, described the partnership as “a significant step towards reshaping the future of TVET delivery in Ghana.” He expressed strong confidence in the collaboration, noting that World Vision Ghana brings a distinctive, community‑centred approach that will help the Commission gain deeper insights into realities on the ground.

He added that unlike many NGOs, “World Vision Ghana offers intelligent solutions and a different way of doing things. This partnership gives us the unique opportunity to understand how culture and gender norms affect TVET delivery, allowing us to integrate these lessons into our curriculum and policies.”

Mr Sulemana further commended World Vision Ghana’s strong emphasis on sustainability, equity and community ownership, affirming that these values align perfectly with CTVET’s mission of driving inclusion and excellence in skills development.

The MoU outlines a shared commitment to expanding access to quality technical and vocational education, promoting demand‑driven skills, strengthening community resilience, and creating pathways to employment and entrepreneurship for the youth. Both organisations will jointly champion:

  • Enhanced access to TVET for vulnerable and marginalised groups
  • Industry‑relevant and competency‑based skills training
  • Capacity building for educators and facilitators
  • Youth empowerment through leadership and life skills development
  • Integration of green skills and sustainable practices
  • Community-led engagement and evidence-based policy influence

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Tinah Mukunda, National Director of World Vision Ghana, noted that the MoU marks a vital milestone in ensuring that young people gain practical skills that open doors to decent work and entrepreneurship.

“Through this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), we will see a lot more skills being injected into the youth. As we work together, we bring our strengths for the benefit of young people, families, and communities,” she said.

She emphasised World Vision Ghana’s proven project management capabilities and commitment to delivering measurable, scalable results“We look forward to jointly showcasing the evidence of impact to government and development partners. The next five years will focus strongly on influencing pathways that make TVET more accessible and inclusive.”

Dr Mukunda added that CTVET remains close to World Vision’s mission because of its power to promote equity, especially for girls, persons with disabilities, and young people in rural communities. She extended an invitation to CTVET officials to visit World Vision’s operational areas to experience first‑hand the community integration that underpins the organisation’s success.
