World Vision Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its collaboration with the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) to ensure sustainable access to clean water in rural and peri-urban communities.

At a high-level meeting held at the CWSA office in Accra, senior representatives from both organisations discussed key issues, including setting tariffs for rural and peri-urban areas, establishing regulatory frameworks for rural water systems and exploring future partnership opportunities to improve water services across Ghana.

The World Vision delegation included two senior Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) experts from World Vision US: Bismark Norgbe and Allen Hollenbach. Also present were Robel Wamisho, Cephas Wedam and Rachel Baiden from the World Vision Ghana WASH team.

The meeting was hosted by the Deputy Chief Executive of CWSA, Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, and his technical team.

During discussions, Putiaha highlighted the agency’s ongoing efforts to drive innovation and sustainability in water service delivery. He shared initiatives such as the introduction of technologies that provide real-time alerts for damaged pumps, strategies to strengthen the durability of rural water systems, and plans to rehabilitate ageing infrastructure to meet the increasing water demands of rural populations.

Speaking on behalf of World Vision Ghana, Robel Wamisho underscored the importance of the partnership with CWSA, describing the agency as a “major stakeholder in Ghana’s water sector.”

“World Vision Ghana deeply values our long-standing partnership with CWSA. Together, we are making meaningful strides toward improving access to sustainable water and sanitation services in underserved communities. We look forward to working even more closely with CWSA to advance innovations, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and ensure that every Ghanaian especially those in rural and peri-urban areas has access to safe and reliable water.” Wamisho stated.

Both organisations reiterated their shared vision of achieving universal access to sustainable water and sanitation services in line with Ghana’s national development goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continued technical engagement, joint initiatives, and knowledge sharing to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of water systems across the country.
