World Vision Ghana Urges Government Collaboration to Advance Education and WASH Initiatives

In a significant move to strengthen collaboration on national development initiatives, Jeane-Claude Mukadi, the Interim National Director of World Vision Ghana (WVG), paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the government and WVG as the organisation rolls out its ambitious five-year strategy which focuses on improving education and community well-being.
During the meeting, Jeane-Claude Mukadi appealed for a continued partnership and specifically requesting tax exemptions on imported educational materials. He emphasised that these resources are crucial for enhancing literacy among schoolchildren across the country.

Adding to the discussion, World Vision Ghana’s Associate Director of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Robel Wamisho, presented an overview of the WASH programme and the WASH Business Plan for 2026–2030. The plan targets schools, communities, and healthcare facilities as key intervention settings, aiming to improve universal access to clean water and sanitation. “This is a massive undertaking,” Wamisho noted. “World Vision cannot do this alone. We need the Ministry’s support to make this vision a reality.”
In response, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu expressed deep appreciation for World Vision’s long-standing contributions to Ghana’s development. He highlighted key government priorities that align with WVG’s goals, including the promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Child Online Protection, improved educational infrastructure, and the provision of changing rooms for adolescent girls. The minister also indicated the need for developing a Digital Education Policy for Ghana and called for WVG’s support and collaboration.
The Minister also affirmed that educational materials should indeed be tax-exempt and pledged to advocate for a legislative framework to formalise this exemption. “I will engage with Parliament to push for a bill that ensures tax relief on educational resources,” he assured.
Also present at the meeting were WVG’s WASH Technical Specialist, Yaw Attah Arhin; Education Technical Programmes Manager, Fred Parku; and the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Hon. Clement Abas Apaak.
This high-level engagement underscores the critical role of partnerships in achieving sustainable development. As World Vision Ghana continues to invest in education and WASH initiatives, collaboration with government institutions remains essential. Only through shared responsibility and mutual support can we build a future where every child has access to quality education and a healthy environment.
