Malawi President Declares Hunger crisis in 11 districts in Malawi
Over four million Malawians are facing an uncertain future as the country grapples with a deepening food crisis. President Peter Mutharika has declared a state of disaster in 11 of Malawi’s 28 districts, highlighting the severity of the situation. Prolonged dry spells, erratic rainfall, and rising food prices have left families struggling to access enough food, with many communities already experiencing hunger and malnutrition.

In response, the government is urgently calling for support from both local and international partners to help avert further suffering. Humanitarian organizations, including World Vision Malawi, are mobilizing resources to provide life-saving assistance and long-term solutions. As the crisis unfolds, the focus remains on protecting the most vulnerable, especially children, and building resilience against future climate-related shocks.
