As part of its Southern Africa Hunger Emergency Response (SAHER), World Vision has undertaken various Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) interventions in areas severely affected by the 2018-2019 drought in Zambia. With funding for this activity from FAO and UNICEF, we have so far drilled 55 / 197 boreholes and rehabilitated 31 / 165 boreholes across Eastern, Lusaka, Central, Western, and Southern Provinces.

As a result of these interventions, more than 42,300 people have been reached with improved access to safe water. The ongoing humanitarian assistance to families in various parts of the country is as a result of the devastating drought during the 2018-2019, which left over 2.3 million people with little or nothing to eat.
