World Vision Zambia (WVZ) and Epicity Marathon Limited officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a partnership grounded in mutual respect, shared values, and a strong commitment to social impact.

The partnership aims to improve the well-being, dignity, and academic outcomes of girls by increasing access to menstrual health support and raising awareness about menstrual poverty. Through this collaboration, Epicity Marathon Limited will work with World Vision Zambia to integrate fundraising and awareness activities into selected City Marathon events in support of the Flow Fund Campaign.

Speaking at the signing held on January 12, 2026, World Vision Zambia, Local Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Kangwa Chokolo, explained that the Flow Fund Campaign seeks to end period poverty by mobilising resources to provide quality reusable sanitary towels and menstrual health support to girls in vulnerable communities.

“As World Vision, we want to slowly change people’s mindsets when it comes to menstrual health. Marathons are a very effective platform because participation is huge, and they also allow us to advocate and raise funds for this important cause,” she said.

World Vision Zambia, National Director, Marc Nosbach,  highlighted the broader impact of the partnership beyond fundraising.

“This partnership is an opportunity to keep girls in school and raise awareness about period poverty,” he said. “It’s not just about raising funds, but also about changing conversations. With Epicity organising marathons across Provinces, this cause will reach far and wide. People will be running for a purpose, ensuring that no vulnerable girl is left behind.”

Echoing this sentiment, Epicity Head of Sales and Projects, Anthony Musabaila, expressed excitement about the collaboration and its alignment with Epicity’s values.

“This partnership speaks directly to who we are as Epicity. We believe in using our platform for good. Many of us are parents and runners with daughters, and the vulnerabilities faced by these girls are very real. Through every event, we will give this cause visibility and invite people to be part of creating transformative change in the lives of the girl child,” he said.

The partnership between World Vision Zambia and Epicity Marathon Limited represents a powerful step towards ending period poverty in Zambia. By addressing the lack of menstrual hygiene products, this collaboration directly restores the dignity of every girl who has ever felt the sting of shame or the fear of exclusion during her cycle. When a girl no longer has to resort to unsafe alternatives or hide away in isolation, she is empowered to walk with her head held high, fully present in her classroom and her community. Ending period poverty is an investment in her self-worth, ensuring that a natural biological process never becomes a barrier to her confidence or her future.

By turning marathon events into platforms for advocacy and action, the collaboration is set to keep girls in school, break the silence around menstrual health, and ensure that no girl is left behind due to a lack of access to essential menstrual hygiene support.
