At the African Union–UNICEF workshop focused on Scalable Foundational Learning and Numeracy (FLN) to End Learning Poverty in Africa held on July 22 to 23, 2025, World Vision Zambia’s impactful partnership with the government of Zambia received notable recognition.

During Zambia’s country presentation, Dr. Langson Chibuye, Assistant Director at the Directorate of Primary and Basic Education and Chair of the Catch-Up Education Program, commended World Vision Zambia for its continued support in advancing foundational learning across the nation.

Highlighting the breadth of the efforts, Dr. Chibuye spotlighted initiatives such as nationwide reading camps, literacy interventions, infrastructure development, and in-classroom support, all of which are helping thousands of children gain confidence in reading and writing.

A key achievement mentioned was the successful rollout of a one-hour Catch-Up session across nine provinces, made possible through the strong partnership with World Vision.

The recognition comes at a pivotal moment as the African Union Heads of State adopted the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA) 2026–2035, emphasising foundational learning as a core priority. World Vision’s work aligns seamlessly with this strategic vision and is already being recognised as a leading practice across the continent.

Furthermore, World Vision was invited to join the AU’s Continental Working Group on FLN, a significant platform for influencing policies, sharing best practices, and advocating for the right of every African child to access quality foundational education.

This acknowledgement shows the power of collaboration and grassroots leadership in driving sustainable change, reaffirming World Vision’s role as a catalyst for educational progress across Africa.
