Maternity hospital bombing latest example of blatant disregard for international humanitarian law

Friday, July 29, 2016

Yet another hospital bombing in northern Syria today, this one a maternity hospital in Idleb province, reminds us of the blatant disregard all parties to the conflict have for international humanitarian law.

“The bombing of this maternity hospital is, devastatingly, just another in a long line of hospitals and other medical facilities impacted by bombings recently. The international community must step up and use all diplomatic means at its disposal to ensure these attacks stop, so that children and families can safely access essential medical and lifesaving care. Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected,” said Christine Latif, World Vision’s Response Manager for Turkey and northern Syria.
