Mr. Jenkins, who was in Uganda for the Africa Forum summit took some time off to visit some of World Vision Uganda's projects in the central region.  Kevin spent time listening to testimonies of families that have experienced the trauma of child-sacrifice in Buikwe district, Central Uganda. Hundreds' of Ugandan children are being sacrificed every year by witch doctors who have convinced the country's superstitious elite that mutilating them will make them even richer. It is a gruesome crime against children driven by superstition, religious beliefs, witch craft and extreme poverty.

In response to this, World vision Uganda designed a project to counter the vice and so far more than 7 children's lives who have been rescued. The project, code name: Amber Alert against Child sacrifice, engages traditional healers about the dangers of child sacrifice, creates awareness about reporting mechnisms when child get lost , engages local and government leaders to pass more stringent laws and also rehabilitates children/ families affected by the ritual.

In the photos below, the World Vision International President and CEO Kevin Jenkins is seen interacting with a family in Buikwe district, whose child narrowly survived the ritual practice. Find that story Here
