DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR – GENERAL x2

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the Development Facilitator General is to serve as a catalyst, community mobilizer, community change agent encourager, partnership broker, and builder of the capacity of HHs/village community organizations, local partners, facilitating the emergence and strengthening of community-led initiatives/innovations to improve and sustain the well-being of children and their families through educational, livelihood, food security and health activities.  

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate effectively World Vision’s identity, mission, vision, values and our approach to coordinate and facilitate development processes effectively towards the well-being of the children in the communities.

Understand the social networks, including the functions various stakeholders fulfil, the power dynamics, potential for partnership and capacity building needs.

Build strong and diverse relationships within HHs/ village communities and partner communities, actively learning and understanding their realities.

Enable and facilitate HHs/community organization to network and connect with relevant stakeholders and partners in an integrated and efficient manner.

Contextualize Churches’ role in Transformational Development in different communities - Identify and act on capacity gaps.

Must clearly understand the donor/community environment and be an effective facilitator of interventions or innovations that involve both parties.

Facilitate community development, in food security, livelihood, Health/HIV & AIDS and Education activities

Mobilize and organize community internally into Interest Groups – CBOs – Associations – Higher form of Organization – based on context – for proper ownership of the development process & outcome. 

Build community capacity in networking, partnership, resource mobilization, management, Sponsorship and technical skills at community level

Build community capacity & partners in prioritize projects, project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting processes relevant to assigned areas

Facilitate community based learning events/labs in conjunction with Learning Centers

Raise awareness and facilitate critical analysis of community issues and opportunities. 

Facilitate visioning and planning processes with community members – especially the most vulnerable, and within community based groups.

Assist with community level DME for the prioritized projects.  Identify technical project and program needs at appropriate times through the lifespan of the programme.

Assist stakeholders and community partners to identify and mobilize community resources needed for project implementation.

Actively participate in feedback, reflection and learning activities

Work closely with the program team leader, sponsorship operations staff, sponsorship volunteers, registered children, their parents and village community organization & local partners. 

Facilitate assessment of feasibility, risk management and community organization readiness for sponsorship in the context as well as explore possibilities of ‘sub granting’ sponsorship to CBOs 

 

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE

Degree in any Social Science, Agricultural Economics or any related field.

Degree/diploma in Education, and Development Studies is an added advantage

2-3 years of work experience in a related field.

Experience with donor-funded, community projects is preferred.

 

OTHER COMPETENCIES & ATTRIBUTES

Computer literate and proficient in Ms Office packages, Data handling and usage of Internet.

Committed Christian, with strong integrity.

A background and good understanding of food Security, HIV/AIDS and health is a MUST.

Ability to demonstrate Community development skills.

Good monitoring and report writing skills.

Able to work with minimum supervision and able to meet deadlines.

A background of working in Education is an added advantage.

Exhibit growth in spiritual maturity and possess understanding of child rights.

Able to ride a motorbike an added advantage.
