"God has kept a better future for us"; World Vision stands next to families in need
Artashes, 10, is a bright and smart child, who likes to play hide-and-go-seek with his peers from neighborhood. The only game he plays and feels safe. He never says “Ready or not here I come”, never searching his hiding friends, always playing as hiding side. This smart kid has sight issues and cannot quickly locate his hiding friends.
“Once I tried to be the seeker and counted until my friends hide themselves, but since everybody was quick to run back to ‘home base’, I had to count and seek for them again and again. So we all decided that I’ll be always hiding and never seeking,” remembers Artashes with a shy smile on his little bright face.
When having free time he likes to draw a lot. Many handwritten pictures are hanging on his mother’s bedroom. Asya, 31, has always dreamed about lots of kids in her house. But Artashes is the only kid she has. She is happily married to David, 36, who adores Artashes and does everything to support and meet the needs of his small family.
"When I was pregnant with Artashes, the local nurse mistakenly injected wrong medicine and it burned my hand from inside"
“When I was pregnant with Artashes, the local nurse mistakenly injected wrong medicine and it burned my hand from inside. David took me to Russia to get prompt treatment. There I could keep my hand, but still lost my fingers,” shares Asya, remembering the harsh period of her life adding, “Russian Doctors were very angry, they gave me many documents to sue our local nurse, but at that time, coming back to my house, I was only thinking about my new-born baby.”
Artashes was born with sight and hearing issues, now he has also gallbladder issues, but keeps staying positive and genuine child, every time happily taking mothers injured hand out, when Asya tries to hide her hand under the table.
Asya’s family received a cow from World Vision and continuously receives clothes and school supplies to somehow is the needs of Artashes and relieve David a little from every day struggle of finding means for living. Each morning Asya milks the cow with one hand and provides a healthy breakfast for her kid and husband.
“I like milk very much. I don’t like eating; drinking milk is much better for me, although I know how hard it is for my mom to milk the cow. And it doubles the taste of delicious milk every morning. I want my mom and dad to be happy. It is hard for them to care for me, I can feel that, since every time at night mom starts praying, when she thinks I have fallen asleep,” shares Artashes, “She prays for my health. I also like to pray. I pray for her health. I hope that one day we will be living healthier, wealthier and happily,” he adds.
Artashes dreams about becoming a musician. He likes to listen to music all day long. Sometimes he doesn’t even feel how loud he has turned the music.
“Music makes my son so happy. Every time I see him smiling, it gives me wings to live more."
“Music makes my son so happy. Every time I see him smiling, it gives me wings to live more. I live for him. I hope that he will get healthier and live a happy life. The biggest fear for me is to lose him,” says Asya, adding, “My family has struggled so much. I hope that God has kept a better and happier future for us.”
