Greatly affected by these issues, children are essential stakeholders and partners in solving them. Through our programmes in East Asia, we seek to empower children to raise their voices on issues that matter to them and contribute to sustainable solutions that bring about lasting changes and improvements to their well-being.

As we celebrate World Children’s Day - an annual day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, we let children take centre stage in sharing their needs, thoughts, hopes and experiences on tackling climate change and ending child malnutrition.

Nomin, 17, Mongolia

Nomin spearheads the "Eco" campaign to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. As a member of the Teen Parliament Programme, she fervently advocates for climate action. At COP28 in Dubai, Nomin will represent children in Asia in climate change discussions and decision-making. Children are the most vulnerable and climate actions must be child-centred to be relevant and sensitive to their needs.
