In February, love was not just spoken in the Kwahu Afram Plains North and South Districts, in the Eastern Region of Ghana; it was demonstrated. Over two impactful days, 789 registered children (366 girls and 423 boys) across five communities, Kwaekese, Dedeso, Odomase, Samanhyia and Kwasi Kumah, received free, comprehensive medical screening and care.

What unfolded was more than a health outreach. It was a powerful demonstration of the multiplier effect of partnerships and of how private-sector collaboration can transform community development outcomes, especially for children.

Early Detection, Lifelong Protection

The integrated health screening provided comprehensive medical and dental checks that enabled early detection of critical health issues among children. Findings showed that 20% had mild to severe anaemia and 70% required urgent oral health interventions. By identifying these conditions early and linking children to care, the initiative helped prevent long-term developmental challenges and set them on a path toward healthier futures.

The Multiplier Effect of Partnerships

This impact was made possible through collaboration with:

  • Unilever Ghana (Pepsodent)

  • Ghana Health Service

  • JS Pharmacy

  • Promasidor Ghana (Twisco)

  • Chop I Chop Restaurant

  • Abimarg Catering Services

Each partner played a distinct yet interconnected role, demonstrating how private sector engagement multiplies impact.

Strengthening Preventive Healthcare – JS Pharmacy

The provision of essential medical supplies by JS Pharmacy enabled health professionals to conduct accurate anaemia testing, growth monitoring, and general physical examinations. Because the right tools were available at the right time, children at risk were identified and referred promptly.

Protecting Smiles, Building Confidence – Unilever Ghana (Pepsodent)

Through Pepsodent, Unilever Ghana ensured that all 789 children received professional dental screening. The results, with 70% needing urgent oral care, highlighted a critical gap in household-level hygiene practices.

Beyond examinations, the partnership reinforced essential oral hygiene education, helping families understand that a healthy smile protects more than teeth; it safeguards confidence, learning, and wellbeing.

Nourishing Health and Hope – Promasidor Ghana (Twisco)

Promasidor Ghana, through Twisco, went beyond providing refreshments to ensure children’s overall wellbeing and learning. During the two-day health screening in Afram Plains, 789 children were energized and comfortable thanks to nutritious Twisco products, helping them fully participate in the medical and dental checks. In addition, Promasidor generously provided educational materials, exercise books, branded cups, and paper bags, supporting both health and learning outcomes.

Creating a Joyful Experience – Community and Hospitality Partners

Chop I Chop Restaurant and Abimarg Catering Services contributed to a warm and welcoming environment that culminated in a joyful Love Feast, filled with nourishment, laughter, and bright smiles.

Why Private Sector Partnerships Matter for Children

When businesses invest in child wellbeing, the returns multiply:

  • Children are healthier and more resilient

  • Families gain knowledge and confidence

  • Communities strengthen their health systems

  • The next generation is better positioned to thrive

Partnerships combine expertise, resources, innovation, and community trust to create a transformative impact for children. The Afram Plains collaboration enabled 789 children to receive early diagnoses, referrals, and improved health awareness, demonstrating the multiplier effect of working together.

This initiative shows that sustainable community development requires coordinated action across public, private, and civil society sectors to build healthier, more resilient generations.
