At a high-level meeting held in Accra, Safe Water Network commended World Vision Ghana’s Water Lab for its pivotal role in advancing safe water solutions and technical innovations in Ghana. The engagement brought together senior WASH experts from World Vision US and Ghana to explore strategic collaborations and shared priorities in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector.

The World Vision delegation included Bismark Norgbe and Allen Hollenbach from World Vision US, as well as Robel Wamisho, Cephas Wedam, and Rachel Baiden from World Vision Ghana’s WASH team. They met with representatives from Safe Water Network, led by Joseph Ampadu Boakye, Head of Partnerships and Business Development.

The discussions focused on the goal of achieving Universal Service Coverage (USC), which aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of their location or circumstances, has access to safe and sustainable water services. Both organisations shared insights on how their respective models and approaches could be aligned to accelerate progress towards this goal.

The dialogue also focused on Safe Water Network’s partnership approach, which emphasises collaboration with local stakeholders, technical innovation, and community empowerment.

World Vision Ghana’s Water Lab was highlighted as a key contributor to this effort, with Mr Boakye describing it as “an immense benefit” to Safe Water Network’s operations and capacity-building initiatives.

Another major theme was Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI). Participants explored how inclusive principles can be embedded more deeply into programme design and service delivery, to ensure that vulnerable and marginalised groups are not left behind in the pursuit of safe water access.

Looking ahead, both organisations expressed a strong interest in strengthening their partnership, sharing a commitment to co-developing community-driven, data-informed, inclusive initiatives. The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and collaboration.

Speaking on behalf of World Vision Ghana, Robel Wamisho expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to the partnership. “We deeply value our collaboration with Safe Water Network. The commendation of our Water Lab is a testament to our shared vision. We look forward to working more closely together to ensure inclusive and sustainable access to safe water for all,” he said.

This strategic dialogue marks a significant step forward in strengthening the partnership between the two organisations, which are now poised to make a lasting impact on water access and equity across Ghana.
